Contour maps and finding Margherita Peak

The contour maps below (courtesy Tony Seebregts – not just the trip minstrel!) have a GPS track indicated – this is essentially the route we covered, circular route with small detour in to the Mount Stanley range and towards Margherita Peak. Although even the smaller group that reached Elena Hut were unable to reach the summit, nor able to see it, we have since been able to determine that the photograph shown to the right (courtesy Jono Heher – not just an advocate!) likely shows Margherita Peak, just showing herself from behind the first buttress above lake Kitandara.
