It seems winter gave us no warning this year
So to ease creaking of the “awakening” joints, as well of the grumbling of their more mature owners, I am arranging a more civilized meeting time for this outing. (the weather looks good. No rain with a low of 8 and high of 20 degC)
So the details are:
Date : Saturday 14 April 2012
Time : 10am at the car park
Location : Strubens Valley
Costs 1 : Access is free. If you bring your own climbing gear then you just need money to tip the car guard (I think a fee of about R15 was arranged by MCSA who arranged the guard)
Costs 2 : Access is free BUT if you need club (ESSA) gear then bring R40 for the day. Plus the abovementioned fee for the guard.
This is a safe location to climb and easy to find. It is in a Jhb suburb (see the route guide for directions). Apparently there were some problems with break-ins into the cars but MCSA organized a permanent car guard and this problem went away.
This is a Sport Climbing location and if you look at the route guide you will see there are many easy/beginner routes.
See you there.
p.s. For those of you that don’t know, this invite will be repeated in a few places.
On Facebook on the “Summit Chasers” group.
On Facebook on the “Exploration Society of South Africa” group.
On Facebook on the “Mountain Club of South Africa, Magalies section” group. (not sure about the exact name/wording of this group at the moment. It could be the acronym MCSA)
If you join the abovementioned groups you will be reasonably sure that you will be able to keep yourself busy over weekends LOL. If you are already a member of these groups, don’t just sit around and wait for others to organize something!!!!! Come up with an idea and invite us to it (post on the walls or create a event)
