The idea is to spend New Year in nature but not without the necessary luxuries as we have the option to transport our luggage.

The Whale Trail is a five day hike in the De Hoop Reserve, three hours from Cape Town. It promises to be the ultimate hiking experience. The trail meanders through the breathtaking De Hoop Nature Reserve where the fragrance of fynbos intermingles with salty sea air. You will marvel at the abundance of endemic plant species and enjoy the company of a variety of rare and endangered animals.

All Whale Trail cottages accommodate up to 12 people. They mostly have 3 bedrooms with 4 beds in each and hikers bring along their own bedding. The five cottages all have a kitchen well equipped with gas stoves, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery enough for twelve. Braai tongs, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, matches, candles and 45 pieces of firewood are available at each cottage. All cottages have an indoor and outdoor braai facility with open grids, except for Noetsie which only has an outdoor braai. The cottages have reliable solar-powered lights and gas geysers supply hot water for the showers and kitchen sinks.
