Sorry about the short notice. Take note that you have to RSVP by Thursday morning

We are going camping at Wilgepoort this Saturday 06 September. For one night only.
(Some of us are also going climbing at Bronkies on Sunday and you are welcome to join us BUT I don’t have the club gear and this is not a beginners intro day etc. so you need your own equipment and need enough experience so you can help yourself a bit.)

The Wilgepoort land belongs to MCSA and you have to RSVP by Thursday morning so that I can organise the visitors permits.
The permits will cost R30pp.

This MCSA property is unfortunately not as pristine as all the other MCSA properties because it used to be a farm and it is surrounded by working farms. It is still beautiful and worth a visit.
It is about 50km North of Bronkhorstspruit.

The camp area is just off the river bank and we will be camping next to (at) the cars. So there is no slog with backpacks J
There is a communal braai area so please bring wood and grids.

I THINK the long-drop (toilet) has been built, but just to be safe, bring your spade and single ply “White Gold”.
THERE IS NO DRINKABLE WATER at the location! Bring your own!
This is just a flat spot on the river bank between the trees and there is nothing here so if you need it, bring it. (it is NOT a campsite with lawns and ablution, etc)

This location is child friendly (as long as you don’t mind keeping an eye on them as there is flowing water EVERYWHERE)

What you can do here includes:
Swimming in the huge pool at the cliff face, or in the smaller pools at the camp;
Hiking;
Climbing – deep water Solo;
Climbing – Trad (bring your own gear and a RD);
Slackline (bolts installed over the huge pool next to the waterfall);
Braai;
Socialise;
Rest;
Camp;
Etc.

Things that you might want to bring include:
Food and drink;
WATER;
Braai grid and some wood;
Flashlight;
Sunscreen;
Swimming clothes and towels;
Chair;
A dry bag if you want to go picnic on the other side if the river (in an awesome spot);
Bring the normal camping stuff that you need;
If you want to, bring a lilo or a kayak or something that floats. The pool of water is quite large and deep.
