Wit Umfolozi Long Weekend 17-20 July For rock-climing and/or just chilling in a scenic remote place, join us for a trip to a private farm on the Wit Umfolozi River. The place is in Kwazulu-Natal between Vryheid and Melmouth. Since the drive is approximately 5 hours, the plan is to leave from Jhb/Pta early Thursday morning to arrive at lunch time, and leave early Sunday morning to avoid end-of-school-holiday traffic back. For climbers, 66 routes of all grades are easily accessible from the site (a book illustrating the climbing routes is available at the site). The water level will be too low for kayaking, but the river is safe for swimming. There are two huts with a total of seven beds, and also one flush toilet and a 200 litre solar-powered shower; also some pots, cutlery, lanterns and a battery-powered small fridge. There is some space for a few tents and a large covered deck with a view. At R150 per person for all three nights, it’s very reasonable. Please email me (pialamberti"@"gmail.com) to book asap, as the number of spaces is limited. Let me know if you have space in your vehicle for passengers or need a lift. It makes sense to share petrol costs.
